Las palmas escoltan el camino hasta el portón, y de repente el oeste completo se abre: el valle de Añasco, las montañas, y — en los días claros — el mar al fondo. La finca queda a veinte minutos de Rincón y a quince de la playa, pero de noche lo único que se oye es el coquí. Palm trees escort the driveway up to the gate, and suddenly the whole west opens up: the Añasco valley, the mountains, and — on clear days — the sea in the distance. The finca is twenty minutes from Rincón and fifteen from the beach, but at night all you hear is the coquí.

El corazón de la finca es la casona de ocho lados bajo su techo rojo de zinc: un solo gran espacio de madera donde caben la sala, el comedor y la barra — y los catorce a la vez. Las ventanas dan al verde por todos los frentes. The heart of the finca is the eight-sided casona under its red zinc roof: one great wooden room holding the lounge, the dining hall and the bar — and all fourteen of you at once. Every window looks out on green.
Cocina completa con barra larga, comedor para toda la familia, y una cocina de grill aparte para el que manda en la barbacoa. Aquí se cocina en grupo o no se cocina. A full kitchen with a long bar, a dining hall for the whole family, and a separate grill kitchen for whoever rules the barbecue. Here, cooking is a group sport.

First, it was
a family's house.
La casona se levantó en 1982, y en el 2015 la familia Ramos Méndez la remodeló para su propio uso — no para alquilarla. Cuando el huracán María azotó, la familia la restauró; dos años después la casa estaba completa otra vez, y decidieron compartirla. The casona went up in 1982, and in 2015 the Ramos Méndez family remodeled it for their own use — not as a rental. When Hurricane María hit, the family restored it; two years later the house was whole again, and they decided to share it.
Hoy Jael y Don Tony la mantienen como lo que siempre fue: un sitio de paz, aire fresco y atardeceres — con el valle, el lago de Añasco y las montañas de Vuelta Redonda de testigos. Today Jael and Don Tony keep it as what it always was: a place of peace, fresh air and sunsets — with the valley, Lake Añasco and the Vuelta Redonda mountains as witnesses.

Five hundred feet up, on a hilltop open on every side, the mountain breeze crosses the house all day and the evenings genuinely cool down. There are fans throughout — and guests who arrive skeptical leave converted. We tell you before you book, because that's what this house is: honest.
There is no AC, which for our family was no issue at all. We fully embraced the experience and had an amazing time. One of a kind stay, 10/10 recommend. The saltwater pool — kinder to skin and eyes — looks straight over the valley, with safety gates for the kids, a wooden deck, a pergola and loungers for whoever is "keeping an eye on the muchachos".
